Las Vegas Area Hits 2 million Population
By

Clark County just racked up 2 million residents.  When it happened is up for debate.

Jon Wardlaw, assistant planning manager for Clark County says it probably happened in September.  There was a flaw in the method that the county estimates the population and there were 27,000 uncounted residents.

University of Nevada Las Vegas economist Keith Schwer suspects that the 2 million mark was reached earlier in August based on his predictions.

For 19 of the past 20 years, Nevada has been the fastest growing state in the country.

The average resident is about 38 years old, has a high school diploma and some college education, is married or living with someone, and is more likely to rent than to own a house.

Most residents come from California, Arizona is second, Florida is third, then Texas, New York, Illinois, Washington, Utah, Michigan and Hawaii.
